BBMP detailed plan to make the city more safe for women includes installing 5,500 high resolution cameras with face recognition, a special control room to monitor these cameras, 100 police outposts near women’s colleges, safety islands in bus stands, 300 four wheelers and 1000 two wheelers for police officers in vulnerable locations. The project which will cost about Rs. 667 core has been approved with 60% funding from the Nirbhaya Fund and 40% by state government.
