Mr. Modi completely ignored that the data has been cherry picked according to his whims. The comparison is baseless. The 22 lakh figure he is quoting is from 1st to 7th September, 2015. In FY 2016-2017, the rise in returns filed stood at 24.30% while for the year 2017-18 (from 1st April – 5th August) the rise in returns filed was 24.70%. Not much of an increase!
